Bio

My main research interest is machinima film production as a process of learning, creativity and innovation. I look at machinima as an example of the profound social and cultural impact of digital media.

The current research on machinima as a creative practice is a subproject of Sense-making strategies and user-driven innovations of virtual worlds, a collaborative project at Roskilde University and Copenhagen Business School and a range of partners, see www.worlds.ruc.dk. Funding is from the Danish Council for Strategic Research (2008-2011). Additional support for the machinima research comes from the Nordic Innovation Centre through the Nordic Virtual Worlds Network, see www.nordicworlds.net.

My previous research projects include the collaborative projects Making a Filmmaker (2008-09) about young Scandinavian filmmakers, and on digital storytelling in the teacher education at Linneaus University, Sweden. Doctoral thesis is Animated Symbols: A study of how young people design animated films and transform meaning (2009) from the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University.

My background includes working as a concept developer of digital games for LEGO, illustrating books and games, and teaching about art, design, communication and media theory.
